The Battle Ground Water System monitors for contaminants according to our Standardized Monitoring Framework II (SMFII). The system has met the requirements for reduced VOC and SOC monitoring under the Chaffee-Lautenberg Amendment.
The system has been granted a "Statewide" waiver since all of our water sources are ground water sources that are not under the influence of surface water. We are therefore not required to monitor for PCB's or Dioxin.
The system has been granted a "Use" waiver since we use no asbestos pipe in our distribution system. We are therefore not required to monitor for asbestos.
The system has been granted a "Susceptibility" waiver since we maintain a chlorine residual in our distribution system. We are therefore not required to monitor for Glyphosate, Cyanide, or Nitrite.
Both entry points have been granted an inorganic chemical (IOC) "Reliably and Consistently" waiver for arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, mercury, selenium, and fluoride since we have enough data to demonstrate that these contaminants are reliably and consistently below the maximum contaminant levels. We are therefore not required to monitor arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, mercury, selenium, and fluoride until the year 2006.
Entry point #01 consists of wells #1 and #2 and corresponding
chemical treatment in our old wellfield. Entry point #02 consists
of the new well #3 and new chemical treatment in our new
wellfield.
